Description:
A decorative Hudson's Bay calendar plate from 1921. Two birds are in the center of the plate foraging through the grass, and the months of the year have been printed around the rim. In a dark gold, printed below the two birds it reads "Compliments of Hudson's Bay Company, Sioux Lookout, ONT."

Though the Hudson's Bay Company is no longer in town, it was once a mainstay of Sioux Lookout's commercial sector. The Hudson's Bay company first purchased a space in town in 1916. The building was consumed in a fire in 1918 but was rebuilt the following year. The business continued as a "Post" until 1938, serving Sioux Lookout locals as well as the transient population from the lumber camps on either side of town. Extensive renovations were made to the building from 1949-1950 at which time an annex began to take care of the fur trading business.
