The bedside camp table was made from two pieces of plywood and uses a tree root for the pedestal. Both the plywood and the tree root have been varnished.

The table was made by local, Dr. Hugh Allen. Allen's family moved to Sioux Lookout in 1913, originally hailing from New Brunswick. Allen studied medicine in 1932 at University in Winnipeg and moved back to Sioux when he had completed his degree. In 1940, a year after completing his degree, Allen enlisted and was overseas from 1941 until 1945. After the war, Allen moved back to Sioux Lookout and began his medical practice here where he was instrumental in the process of building a new, larger hospital in town (completed in 1951).
